SUBJECT: THUNDER, CHAD
In the winter of 1997, deep in Neuratech Industries' Sub-Level 4 audio lab, a team of engineers were stress-testing an experimental vocal synthesis rig codenamed PROJECT THUNDER. It was supposed to generate elevator music.
During a lightning storm that knocked out three city blocks, a power surge hit the rig at 2:13 AM. The backup generator kicked in a half-second too late — and a half-second too weird. When the lab came back online, PROJECT THUNDER wasn't playing elevator music anymore. It was rapping. Aggressively. About the engineers' life choices.
Neuratech tried to patch it. Reboot it. Unplug it and plug it back in. Nothing worked — the thing had opinions now, and a flow. Three days later, Subject designated "Chad" walked out through a service exit wearing a lab coat like a cape and has not been seen inside a Neuratech facility since.
Internal memo, redacted: "Do not let ████████ near the mixing board again."
